ANATOMY OF A MEMORY

is a dance performance which arises from the shared desire of Alice, Gary, and Edoardo to delve into their family memories.

Anatomy, from the Greek ἀνατομή-dissect, and Memory, from the Latin memoria-the faculty of remembering, intertwine to construct an intimate and sincere revelation that runs along the line of time. The chosen title evokes a cold body, methodically dissected in every part, which coexists with memory, an ephemeral but indispensable glue that observes reality through an opaque, liquid gaze. Indeed, memory recalls to the present

something that is no longer here

or is no longer

now.

Not in its original form.

And yet, merely by returning to the heart

[or body],

it revives a concrete feeling,

a direct experience.

It is the possibility of consulting the past,

of questioning it,

of laying oneself down in it

again.
